Contura – new smart features

Over the next few months, Heatsource will try to present some of the exciting innovations that all suppliers have been working hard to develop, even during the pandemic.

We have chosen to start with the Swedish brand, Contura, who makes style and innovation at the heart of their Research & Development (R&D).

Their updated designs of the popular series 500, 600 and 800 style will have the new extremely useful Automatic Start Function (ASF) that works like an auto-starter for a fast fire-lighting of the appliance. This innovative feature will automatically controls airflow through the grate. This allows the door to be kept shut while kindling the fire, making your stove independent of ambient air. This will also give you the peace of mind of not having to leave the stove door open while the fire gets started. This is also ideal for modern homes with negative pressure. The feature is unique to Contura.

This function doubles up as Refuelling Boost Function (RBF) as the booster allows you to revive dying embers if you have been a little too busy for your fire. By simply releasing the left handle, air flows in from below and blow life back into the embers to set new wood alight. Before long you’re once again enjoying the warmth of a beautiful fire.

Their third new design feature is the Silent Sliding Ashtray (SSA) that  a re-design of the ash pan to ensure that it slides quietly and smoothly during emptying. The small details do matter.
